Nurturing Young Minds Through Regenerative Tourism: Educational Visit by Haibung Mahadevsthan Secondary School
At Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm, sustainability is not only about protecting the environment, it is equally about strengthening communities, educating future generations, and promoting social wellbeing. As an eco-friendly destination located near Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and the scenic Dhaap Dam, the resort is committed to practicing and promoting regenerative and sustainable tourism in Nepal.
On 28 January 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming 36 enthusiastic students from Grades 9 and 10 of Shree Haibung Mahadevsthan Secondary School in Haibung for an educational field visit designed to connect classroom learning with real-world sustainability practices.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
The visit was organized as part of an initiative to encourage experiential learning where students gain knowledge by engaging directly with nature, agriculture, and responsible tourism practices.
At Prakriti Resort, we strongly believe that local school students are vital stakeholders in our sustainability journey. They serve as a bridge between the resort and the wider community, helping spread awareness about environmental responsibility, sustainable lifestyles, and community wellbeing.
During the visit, the students explored several core elements of regenerative tourism and eco-friendly hospitality, including:
-
Permaculture and organic farming practices
-
Environmental conservation and biodiversity protection
-
Zero-waste systems and responsible waste management
-
Eco-friendly architecture and sustainable construction design
-
Energy-efficient operations and responsible resource use
-
Local economic benefits through community employment
-
Cultural immersion and preservation of local traditions
Through guided tours, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations, students were able to observe how a sustainable resort integrates agriculture, tourism, community, and conservation into a single holistic model.

Youth Leading Environmental Action
One of the most inspiring moments of the day was when the students took the initiative to lead a village-wide cleanup campaign in the Haibung area.
Demonstrating strong civic responsibility and environmental stewardship, the group collected eight full bags of plastic waste and rubbish from surrounding community spaces.
This activity not only helped improve local cleanliness but also reinforced important values among students such as:
-
Community cooperation
-
Environmental awareness
-
Responsibility toward shared public spaces
-
The importance of sustainable waste management
By actively participating in such initiatives, young people gain the confidence and motivation to become future environmental leaders in their communities.

Building Community Through Education
At Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm, we recognize that sustainable tourism cannot exist without strong community relationships. Educational collaborations like this help ensure that tourism development benefits not only visitors but also local residents, schools, and future generations.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to:
-
Raj Kumar Lamichhane, Headmaster of Shree Haibung Mahadevsthan Secondary School
-
Shyam Lama, President of the School Management Committee
-
Shivaraj Adhikari, Science Teacher
for their support in organizing this meaningful educational visit.
Their dedication to experiential learning and environmental education made this collaboration truly impactful.

Strengthening Social Wellbeing Through Regenerative Tourism
This initiative reflects the broader mission of Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm: to create a tourism model that regenerates nature, empowers communities, and educates future generations.
By engaging local schools, encouraging youth participation, and promoting environmental responsibility, we hope to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future for Nepal’s tourism sector.
Programs like these remind us that true sustainability is built through collective action where education, community, and nature come together.
We look forward to welcoming more students, educators, and community members to experience and learn about sustainable tourism, organic farming, and regenerative living at Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm.
