Eco-Friendly Construction
Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm Pvt.Ltd ( Prakriti ) is a sustainability-focused eco-retreat located on the northern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, within the watershed and fragile ecological landscape of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. https://prakritiresort.com/
Designed as a low-impact development, the resort demonstrates how tourism can operate in balance with natural ecosystems while supporting local livelihoods, cultural immersion, and long-term environmental resilience.
Prakriti has followed ecologically sensitive planning principles, undertaken with care and respect for the land, ensuring the space is not over-commercialized. Buildings are constructed using eco-friendly , locally available materials and techniques that adapt to the natural terrain, reducing land disturbance and resource consumption.
Native fruit trees, medicinal plants, and flowering species are integrated throughout the landscape of Prakriti that enhance biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, and maintain ecological continuity.
At the core of Prakriti’s operations is a 20-acre integrated permaculture and organic farming system that supplies healthy, fresh, seasonal produce to the resort’s kitchen. The model reduces food miles and emissions, supports indigenous seed conservation, and improves soil health through composting and the application of indigenous microorganism (IMO) cultures that regenerate soil biology and nutrient cycles. Through these practices, the farm contributes to resilient, climate-responsible food systems while strengthening local ecological balance.
The resort follows circular economy and zero-waste practices—composting organic waste, minimizing plastic use, and treating wastewater on-site to protect water streams and surrounding ecosystems. All of these practices align strongly with climate-friendly principles and regenerative tourism standards.
Prakriti maintains strong partnerships with surrounding communities, prioritizing local employment, skills transfer, and cultural preservation.
Guests are encouraged to engage in environmental learning, sustainable farming practices, cleanup activities, and responsible nature-based experiences, reinforcing awareness of conservation and climate resilience.
Through its integrated sustainability model, Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm serves as a practical demonstration of regenerative tourism where environmental stewardship, community well-being, and responsible economic activity progress together.
This is not a vision for one resort alone—it is a blueprint that can be replicated across the country, ensuring tourism thrives economically while preserving the natural resources and cultural heritage that make Nepal unique.
Prakriti as a Global Model for Regenerative Tourism in Nepal. A vision where tourism in Nepal is not just an industry, but a regenerative force — healing the land, enriching communities, and inspiring the world.
