Empowering Communities Through Ecotourism: Highlights from Our 11th Annual General Meeting

Prakriti Resort and Organic Farm proudly announces the successful completion of its 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM)—a significant milestone that reaffirmed our unwavering dedication to sustainable tourism and community empowerment.

This year’s AGM was marked by active and meaningful participation from all local stakeholders, including shareholders, board members, and community representatives. Together, we reviewed key developments, passed vital resolutions aligned with our sustainability mission, and celebrated the progress we’ve made in promoting community-focused ecotourism.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the meeting. In particular, we recognize Rakshit B. Khadka, our Sustainability Coordinator and Consultant, for his critical role in developing and implementing robust HR and sustainability policies across all levels of our organization.

Our Community-Focused Ecotourism Model: A Shared Vision

At the core of our operations lies a deep commitment to inclusive and responsible tourism. Our ecotourism model integrates principles of Collaborative Governance and Sustainable Development, ensuring that local voices are not only heard but also actively shape the future of our resort.

Local Ownership and Involvement

We are proud to involve 12 local residents and farmers as shareholders, holding 18% of the total share value. Many of these individuals play an active role in daily operations, directly contributing to the resort’s growth and community integration. Furthermore, we have created 20 full-time jobs for locals, ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism are shared with those who call this region home.

NGO Partnership & Sustainability Focus

Our partnership with NETIF, a respected ecotourism-focused NGO, has been instrumental in embedding sustainability into our operations. Four out of the seven NETIF board members are shareholders, and their president serves as our Managing Director. His voluntary contributions—from design and construction to management—embody our commitment to environmental integrity and social responsibility.

Collaborative Governance

Prakriti Resort operates under a seven-member board, composed of shareholders, NGO representatives, and local farmers—an effective Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This inclusive structure ensures diverse perspectives in decision-making, helping us stay rooted in community priorities while upholding the highest standards of sustainable tourism.

As we move forward, our AGM reaffirms our shared purpose: to create a regenerative, inclusive, and community-led tourism model that serves as a benchmark for ecotourism in Nepal and beyond.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we grow.
